[Media Statement] Criteria and Guidelines for Selecting candidates for Judicial Appointment

MEDIA STATEMENT

At its meeting on 3 October 2022, the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) adopted revised criteria and guidelines for selecting candidates for judicial appointment, revising the criteria and guidelines adopted in 1998 and updated in 2010.

The criteria can be found on the JSC website at: https://bit.ly/3sCFB7L

The Commission has decided to publish the revised criteria and guidelines for comment.
Interested parties may make written submissions as follows:

1. Submissions must reach the Secretariat within 30 days of date of publication of the revised criteria and guidelines, i.e by 27 November 2022.

2. Submissions must not exceed 10 pages.

Submissions must be addressed to the Secretariat of the Judicial Service Commission at KMoretlwe@judiciary.org.za and TPhaahlamohlaka@judiciary.org.za, CC:JSC@judiciary.org.za.

No comments received after 27 November 2022 will be considered.
