SHORTLISTED CANDIDATES FOR JUDICIAL APPOINTMENT
On 14 May 2024 the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) published notices in the media calling for nominations of interested persons to fill vacancies in the following courts – Constitutional Court, Supreme Court of Appeal, Land Court, Labour Court and Labour Appeal Court and various divisions of the High Court. Further notices were published on 15 May 2024 and 11 June 2024 advising that the JSC has added a vacancy of Deputy Judge President in the Mpumalanga Division of the High Court and an additional vacancy of a Judge in the Gauteng Division of the High Court respectively. The closing date for submission of nominations was 14 June 2024.

The following candidates have been shortlisted to be interviewed in October 2024:
- Constitutional Court (One vacancy)
The JSC received three nominations for this vacancy. The JSC, in terms of Section 174(4) of the Constitution, must prepare a list of nominees with three names more than the number of appointments to be made. As a result, the JSC could not proceed to shortlist three candidates for one vacancy.
- Supreme Court of Appeal (Three vacancies)

Following deliberations Judge Mogomotsi Edwin Molahlehi was successfully nominated.
- Eastern Cape Division of the High Court, Mthatha (One vacancy)
