THE APRIL 2022 JSC INTERVIEWS WILL TAKE PLACE IN JOHANNESBURG ON 4 – 8 APRIL AT THE HILTON HOTEL, SANDTON.

SHORTLISTED CANDIDATES FOR JUDICIAL POSITIONS – APRIL 2022

On 05 November 2021 the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) published notices in the media calling for nominations of interested persons to fill vacancies in the various Superior Courts. The closing date for submission of nominations was set for 06 December 2021. On 27 January 2022, the Screening Committee of the JSC met and compiled a shortlist of candidates to be interviewed at its April sitting scheduled for 04 – 08 April 2022. The names of the candidates to be interviewed by the JSC at its April 2022 sitting are as follows:

Judge Fayeeza Kathree-Setiloane
Judge Keoagile Elias Matojane | WITHDRAWN
Judge Mahube Betty Molemela
Judge Owen Lloyd Rogers
Judge David Nat Unterhalter

 

After interviewing 5 candidates for 2 positions on the Constitutional Court, the JSC has decided to leave 1 of the 2 vacancies on the Constitutional Court open. The JSC has selected the following 4 candidates as nominees for the position:

Judge Fayeeza Kathree-Setiloane
Judge Mahube Betty Molemela
Judge Owen Lloyd Rogers

The JSC decided not to shortlist any candidate for this position.

Following deliberations, the JSC has recommended the following candidate for appointment as judge to the Free State High Court:

Judge Mjabuliseni Isaac Madondo

After deliberations, the JSC has decided not to recommend Judge Madondo for the position of Judge President of the KwaZulu-Natal High Court.
The position will remain vacant.

Following deliberations, the JSC has recommended the following candidate to fill one vacant judge post in the KwaZulu-Natal High Court.
The remaining two vacancies will remain unfilled.

Following deliberations, the JSC has decided to recommend the following candidate for appointment as Judge President of the North West High Court.

The shortlisted candidates will be notified of the date, time and venue of the interviews in due course.
