Advocate Siphokazi Jikela SC has had a distinguished career in both the public and private sectors. She began as a state prosecutor under the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) from 1999 to 2004, where she honed her expertise in criminal law. Her transition into autonomous practice came in 2005 when she joined the Durban Bar, where she practiced as an advocate until 2015. During this period, Advocate Jikela developed a robust practice, becoming well-versed in civil, administrative, labour, and employment law, as well as arbitrations and land restitution.
In 2015, she briefly served as Senior Manager for the Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs in KwaZulu-Natal from March to September before returning to the bar. Since then, she has continued to build her legal career as a Senior Counsel, appearing in various courts, including civil trial courts, criminal trial courts, criminal appeal courts, and the Labour Court.
